Center for CO2 Storage Modeling, Analytics, and Risk Reduction Technologies (CO2-SMART) – Planning Meeting

Center for CO2 Storage Modeling, Analytics, and Risk Reduction Technologies (CO2-SMART) – Planning Meeting

September 12-13, 2023

The Center for CO2 Storage Modeling, Analytics, and Risk Reduction Technologies (CO2-SMART) is a planned National Science Foundation’s Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC). CO2-SMART, led by Energi Simulation Research Chair Behnam Jafarpour, is a collaboration between the University of Southern California (USC) and Pennsylvania State University (PSU).

CO2-SMART brings together a dynamic team of scientists and engineers with diverse expertise from USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering and PSU’s Department of Geosciences. The complementary strengths of the participating universities ensure a well-rounded approach capable of addressing the challenges that industry faces in relation to geologic CO2 storage.

Registration is now open for the two-day Center Planning Meeting, scheduled for September 12-13, 2023, at USC’s University Park campus in Los Angeles, CA. This event offers prospective IAB (Industry Advisory Board) members a unique opportunity to engage with the Center investigators, meet other potential IAB members, and familiarize themselves with the IUCRC framework. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to provide feedback about their organization’s needs and interests and shape the Center’s proposed research directions and project portfolios.
