Nations are racing to power AI and massive data centres, while millions of people in the Global South still lack access to reliable energy and basic infrastructure. Both demands require vastly more energy, but at what cost to global emissions? Can we produce more energy while moving toward a low-carbon future? Is it time to switch the debate from energy transition to responsible energy addition?
